Care Guides

We all need a little TLC to keep us as good as new, and your beautiful new Fairfax & Favor investment is no different.

Amira

Suede

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Once you've used them a bit, you can treat your suede products with either Suede & Nubuck Protector once a month or Liquiproof Premium Protector – more often if you're wearing them a lot.

Spray the Suede & Nubuck Protector lightly and sparingly from at least a foot away and leave to prove for an hour. If you’re using Liquiproof Premium Protector, apply sparingly section by section, brushing it in with a soft brush until the suede has been covered.
Always read the directions of the care product, and test on an inconspicuous area first. Fairfax & Favor cannot be held responsible for improper use of care or cleaning products. For any concerns, please contact our Customer Service team.

Please note: we recommend tightening the screw backs on the tassels once you receive your new boots, this will help ensure no lost tassels!
If you happen to lose the screw back off of your Fairfax & Favor tassel, we have Replacement screw backs available. Alternatively, if you have lost a tassel, please contact our Customer Service team who will be able to assist you further.

CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS

Not in the washing machine, please!
Remove dried dirt or marked fibres using a soft suede brush, brushing in the direction of the suede. If it’s still dirty, use Liquiproof Eco Cleaner on light marks but dilute it heavily in warm water.

If your Amiras become wet, leave them to dry naturally and brush. If anything else gets onto your boots (like a wine glass accident), soak it up immediately and then wipe over with a lightly damp, neutral-coloured microfibre cloth.

MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

Store away from heat, damp, and direct sunlight. Where possible, store in their dustbags and the blue box provided for additional protection. We recommend using Boot Trees to fill out the calf, maintain their original shape and prevent ankle creasing. Where possible, store your boots in their dustbags and blue box, and use a Signature Boot Bag for extra protection when travelling.

Please Note: Bright coloured suede & leather can transfer with wear onto other fabrics and leave a mark. Likewise, dark coloured fabrics (like denim!) can also transfer onto brighter coloured suede and/ or leathers. This is perfectly normal and won't be covered under our warranty.

Anglesey

Leather

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Leather is a natural material and needs oil/moisture to keep it soft and supple. To stop it drying out, hardening and cracking, treat it at least once a month with Renapur Leather Balsalm. Use a sponge or cloth and work the cream into both the toe creases and around the sole unit of your boots.

Please note: exposure to salt water or animal waste / ammonia may cause degradation of the leather and the lining, and prevent it from performing effectively.

CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS

Not in the washing machine, please!
Clean the leather with a neutral-coloured microfibre cloth and leave it to dry naturally. Remove mud and dirt immediately to stop moisture being drawn from the leather.

Always read the directions of the care product, and test on an inconspicuous area first. Fairfax & Favor cannot be held responsible for improper use of care or cleaning products. For any concerns, please contact our Customer Service team.

Not in the washing machine, please!
Clean the leather with a neutral-coloured microfibre cloth and leave it to dry naturally. Remove mud and dirt immediately to stop moisture being drawn from the leather.

MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

The Explorers are tested to British Industry standards for 8 hours to confirm no water ingress. This means that the boots are waterproof to the elements for up to 8 hours if they are maintained properly*.
However, like all leather performance boots, excessive exposure will cause water absorption into, and eventually through, the leather. After exposure to water, the boots must be dried out fully at natural room temperature, and not in direct heat or sunlight. If the boots are not fully dried out after use, the length of time that the boots will remain fully waterproof may be lessened. Similarly, exposure to salt water or animal waste / ammonia may cause degradation of the leather and the lining, and prevent it from performing effectively.

The Vibram® soles, are heavy duty and are tested to British Industry Standards for slip resistance, flex, and wear.
To care for your soles, remove stones and clean thoroughly after use.

Punctures to the sole, insole damage and nicks/tears in the lining can all affect the waterproof ability of the boot.

Store away from heat, damp, and direct sunlight. Where possible, store in their dustbags and the blue box provided for additional protection.

We recommend using Boot Trees to fill out the calf, maintain their original shape and prevent ankle creasing. Where possible use a Signature Boot Bag for extra protection when travelling.

*Whilst the boots are tested to be waterproof in everyday conditions, puddles and wet grass etc. We do not recommend fully submerging or wading in them. For this type of activity the only true protection would be a rubber wellington.

Frimley

Suede

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Once you've used them a bit, you can treat your Frimley's with either Suede & Nubuck Protector once a month or Liquiproof Premium Protector every couple of months – more often if you're wearing them a lot.
Spray the Suede & Nubuck Protector lightly and sparingly from at least a foot away and leave to prove for an hour.
If you’re using Liquiproof Premium Protector, apply sparingly section by section, brushing it in with a soft brush until the suede has been covered.

Store away from heat, damp, and direct sunlight. Where possible, store in their dustbags and the blue box provided for additional protection.

L'Alliance Wellington

Rubber

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

To ensure your L'Alliance rubber boots stay in good condition it's important that they are regularly cleaned with water and allowed to dry naturally.

Occasionally you might notice a white powdery "Bloom" on the boots. This is perfectly normal and is insoluble particles that have risen to the surface, which is largely due to the characteristic of a premium product made from high-grade rubber and will not compromise the durability or performance of the boots.

Keep the zip clean and never force the zip. Dirt will wear the zip and significantly reduce its life, and don't leave the zip undone when wearing the boots, this will increase the chances of dirt getting into the zip.

Please note we recommend tightening the screw backs on the tassels once you receive them, this will help ensure no lost tassels!
If you happen to lose the screw back off of your Fairfax & Favor tassel, we have Replacement screw backs available. Alternatively, if you have lost a tassel, please contact our Customer Service team who will be able to assist you further.

Malvern

Leather

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Leather is a natural material and needs oil/moisture to keep it soft and supple. To stop it drying out, hardening and cracking, treat it at least once a month with Renapur Leather Balsalm.

CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS

Not in the washing machine, please!

Leather is a natural material and needs oil/moisture to keep it soft and supple. To stop it drying out, hardening and cracking, treat it at least once a month with Renapur Leather Balsalm. Use a sponge or cloth and work the cream into both the toe creases and around the sole unit of your Sterling boots.

MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

Store your beautiful leather Sterling boots away from heat, damp and direct sunlight. Where possible, store your boots in their dustbags and blue box.

Suede Ankle

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Once you've used them a bit, you can treat your suede Upton ankle boots with either Suede & Nubuck Protector once a month or Liquiproof Premium Protector every couple of months – more often if you're wearing them a lot.
Spray the Suede & Nubuck Protector lightly and sparingly from at least a foot away and leave to prove for an hour.
If you’re using Liquiproof Premium Protector, apply sparingly section by section, brushing it in with a soft brush until the suede has been covered.

CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS

Remove dried dirt or marked fibres using a soft suede brush, brushing in the direction of the suede. If it’s still dirty, use Liquiproof Eco Cleaner on light marks but dilute it heavily in warm water. If your ankle Upton's become wet, leave them to dry naturally and brush. If anything else gets onto your product (like a wine glass accident), soak it up immediately and then wipe over with a lightly damp, neutral-coloured microfibre cloth.
